Obamas Inauguration

On January, twentieth of two thousand and nine, Obama became the new President of the United States of America. This event has been claimed to be “history in the making”, because of the fact that Obama is the first black/African American man to become the President of the Free World, or the United States. However, Obama is not fully an African American, because although his father may be black, his mother is white, or Caucasian, which technically makes him half African American.
Before Obama was elected as the President, he was in a political battle with Hillary Clinton in order to decide who would become the candidate for the Democrats in the Presidential elections. A possibility of the first women President made for a close run with Obama, but in the end he came out victorious. After winning the political skirmish, Obama found himself in yet another political struggle, but this time it was for the title of the President of the United States.

Page-2: Obama was going against the Republican Presidential Candidate, McCain. McCain was an old white/Caucasian male, who, if elected as President, would be known as the oldest person to ever become the President. He had more political experience than Obama had and was also a war veteran.
Speech after speech, the two political party’s candidates let their goals be clear to the public. Obama made it quite clear that he wanted to be able to pull the United States military out of the troubled areas of the Middle East, mainly Iraq. Obama, like most candidates for the title of President, made promises. He promised to lower taxes on the middle class families of America, and made some promises for the homosexuals as well as support gay marriages. He supported abortion and promised to lower the prices of gasoline. He promised to help stabilize America’s economy and to have the American Military completely pulled out of Iraq by the year of two thousand and twelve.
It was a fierce competition between the two political candidates. For what seemed like a long while to many, people all the while wondered who would be chosen to become the Vice President spots. Although many people expected Hillary Clinton to be chosen for the Democrat’s Vice President Candidate, Obama chose Joe Bidden to accompany him in his campaign as the Democrat’s Vice President Candidate.

Page-3: Sarah Palin, who was the governor of Alaska, was chosen by the Republicans to represent them and McCain as the Vice President Candidate. Obama made some really nice promises that sounded hopeful to the citizens of the United States. Unfortunately, in this election, a political technique, known political mudslinging, was used. Often used by the media, political mudslinging basically exploits faults and/or mistakes made by the other political party. For example, a well known African American man by the name of Jesse Jackson was caught on video saying that he wishes he could cut Obama’s nuts off. He then later apologized for it. When Sarah Palin’s daughter, a non married teenager, got pregnant, the Democrats media swarmed all over that news. Also, when there was news about the abortions where the doctors locked the already born babies were locked in a room and left to die, Obama did not react how the public thought he should. He basically said that there bigger issues at hand and shrugged it off and that is what the Republican media targeted.
Through out Obama’s election, there was a statement that said that it’s time for change. Presently, one of Obama’s plans for helping America’s economy by increasing the country’s budget and decreasing taxes. Will Obama be able to fulfill his promises as the President? Time will tell.
